Phenomenon definition

What is being a phenomenon? Is it about being fast ? Is it about making connections easily? In my opinion, a phenomenon is someone who has the desire to learn, the motivation and who works to acquire his knowledge. That is actually directly what George Malley did in Phenomenon, a movie where a lot of themes are treated and a lot of symbols are employed.

The first theme is, for sure, the knowledge. The books are representing the learning. All the knowingness that the character knew was drag form those writings who are the river of this intellectual power. In the most important parts where the perseverance of George is rewarded by a new knowing, books are also in the scene. For example; when he learned the Portuguese.

The second important theme is love, love and love. The chairs are the best symbol used to express this feeling. George, blinded by this real sense, bought almost all the Lace’s chairs. It’s not just to express it, it’s also to explain how love may be powerful and how it’s impossible to deny the impacts of it on his life. All the joy, all the little smiles unexplained when he though about her are just some examples of its intensity.

The light represents, like the rabbit stocked in the garden, the importance of a change. The light shows directly how a person may positively change rapidly like the lighting. The rabbit demonstrated the positive impacts of a turning point in a person to all a society. When Malley delivered him for his harvest problem, his love problem, his connections problems, he opened also the prison of the rabbit.

The symbols are interesting for the progression of the movie and the identification of the different themes. Spiderman has spider power, Superman has flying power, Catwoman has cat power, Hulk has strong power, Invisible woman has invisibility power, Storm has temperature power, but the real phenomenon stays George Malley with the stronger desire of learning. So, what do you want to learn ?

Be smarter and follow the S.M.A.R.T way

Hi ladies and gentlemen.
Tic. Toc. Tic. Toc. We just turned a new year and it’s time for resolutions! Just to be sure, I’m not talking about those that you surrender after a little while. I’m definitely talking about a goal that you have to reach and that YOU WILL reach.
Yes, for you dear readers, I have my own goal. Practice piano more often… Well, more than last year to learn twelve songs.
To reach it for sure, you will simply have to follow the S.M.A.R.T ideology.
S for specific! Is my resolution a too large subject? Is my resolution a too specific idea? I hope not. Finish one sheet each month is not too specific and just enough large because I know what I have to do and I know how I am going to do it.
M for measurable! Give you a quantity or some little objectives. To accomplish it, I will learn one song each month (my quantity). If in your case you want to lose weight, you could just try to forget 2 pounds of your actual shape.
A for achievable and R for realistic! Is your goal possible? Is your schedule let you enough time? Have you the capacity to accomplish it? I think that my 2010 resolution is achievable because I already played piano; I just forget the instrument those passed years for some other activity. It’s also more than realistic, because one song each month is less than I used to do before. It will probably take a lot of time, but I have this time for it, and I am stubborn to make it.
T for time bound! Just let you a due date to be sure to don’t give up in the middle of your resolution. One year for me. What about you?
And if this year resolution would be not just some forgotten dreams; just some concrete result.

The Handsomest Drowned Man in the World

“It was the story of a man… Actually, it begins with some kids who found a drowned man out of the village”, she whispered. “He was so tall, so strong, so virile; he was just perfect, he was Esteban. Once this handsome man had entered the village, all the inhabitants started to embellish their land. In that way, the soul of Esteban would be welcome. All the village finally decided to returned him from where he came. All his beauty never stoped to impress the entire place.” She concluded.

This was actually The Handsomest Drowned Man written by Gabriel Garcias Marquez that I used to hear before. With a myth like that you can easily increase the feeling of belonging to a nation because you build a strong cultural history, you introduce our nation to some main values and you bring everybody to a same ideology. This tale helps everybody to believe in the power of dreams and in the beauty of change. So, the myths are really important for the construction of a nation, a country.

First, Gabriel Gracias Marquez used hyperbole –a literary device that is based on the exaggeration – to increase the fact that Estaban was the best. For example: “[…] he could fish out of the sea simply by calling their names and that he would have put so much work into his land that springs would have burst forth form among the rocks.” This quote is also to explain the importance of a dream that would help a nation to progress.

Secondly, there are also many climaxs that are also there to increase the fact that the dream has a major power and that changing our habitudes can be profitable at the end; even more that it was before. It explains in a other way that the narrowness of a dream is the worst thing of nations. “[…] the first time of the desolation of their streets, the dryness of their courtyards, the narrowness of their dreams as they faced the splendor and beauty of their drowned man.”

Thirdly, I can connect it to my own passions, the soccer or the piano. Actually, if you dream to reach your goals, you will probably reach it easily that if you are wondering anything. And sometime changing the way you used to kick the ball of to play a song may be more beneficial than it was. Like in this text, the inhabitants understand that they needed to dream in something and to change their way of thinking to be able to increase the dream. That’s the way we also need to act when you play piano or when you kick soccer balls.

To cap it all, a tale like the Esteban’s one inspired a whole land to dream of something and to accept to change. Myths like that are so important for a country, because they help to built a stronger nation, a stronger cultural history, stronger values and a stronger ideology that joined people from a same place. That is the power of myths in a nation building.

Quebec without a real identity

Hey guys !! Who never heard a friend complaining that our artists are not that influent ? Or, a family member yelling that our style disappears? It drives me crazy. Honestly, we have so many important personalities that represent our nation, our culture and our pride. That is just a myth that we need to clarify.

Did you forget Céline Dion? This little girl from Charlemagne who has her own star on the walk of fame since 2004. She’s the heart of the Quebecois. Always there to denounce the different unfairness. She fought for the victims of Katrina in 2005, helped the Canadian Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and sang after that the planes destroyed the symbol of America on the September 11th. She popularized her French songs, our language. She is proud of being a Canadian, a Quebecois, but before all of it: a francophone signer.

And now, what about the Circle du Soleil ? This formation shows what we really are; talented, persevering, professional, resourceful, respectful people too much forgotten. Guy Laliberté and Daniel Gauthier redefined the circus. Scatted all around the globe, those representations imagined by Baie-Saint-Paul men use our minority to demonstrate our rarity.

And that is not over, Simple plan which is a group more known by the teenagers went in Asia. This band seduced them. And what about the New Cities? What about our humorists that went in Europe to defend our culture? What about Gabrielle Roy who popularized our French literature? What about all the others artists that are there to conserve our cultural heritage?

Now, a reason why the other countries know the difference between Quebec and the Canada is because of those symbols, those soldiers and those genius. Quebec without identity ? Definitely false.

You know you love me ;p !

The Myths about Acne

Hey Hey ! What s going on today ? Ahh .. what ? This morning you woke up and you just wanted to smile because tonight you are going to date the popular Chad. It would be your best day ever… but no? What? The mirror shows you a big and disgusting pimple right in the middle of your cute face. Well, you have to face the facts; this is your enemy acne. Is it the end of your social life? Will you be able to come back in the world without pimples ? To be continued…

Everyone is sure that they know how to escape it and what are the causes. Well, let see if it’s really true or if it’s just one of the others myths.

Myth number 1: The acne is caused by a bad hygiene.
Totally wrong! The acne is not the result of the dust, of the oils on your skin or of a bad hygiene. Actually, the cleansings unkind or too frequent may irritate your skin and may aggravate your situation because it spills your bacterium from your infected pimples all around your face. The best way to keep your skin clean is to wash it delicately with a gentle soap. When you dry your visage never rub.

Myth number 2: Acne is caused by the alimentation.
Scientifics proved that there is not a relation between the acne and what you eat. Carbonated soft drinks and French fries are not really good for your health, but it never lead to the acne. The only thing that fast-food may destroy is your skinny lovely shape.

Myth number 3:Sun is good for your pimples.
If you think that your acne will disappear with the sun, don’t you believe it! Tanning and sunburns make you skin more grease and can aggravate your problem instead of reduce it. The sunrays may cause some big skin irritations if you take some drugs against acne. Be careful.

So, the only way to escape to this problem is to wait. Be patient, your pimples will let you alone soon. If it’s too severe, you should probably consult a specialist ( no... I am not a specialist).
But you know you love me :)
